Troubleshooting: fix it before you return it
Most smart-glasses 'defects' that go back to the store are settings, cables, or fit — not broken hardware. These guides walk the actual failure modes, in the order they occur.

Every troubleshooting guide on this site starts from symptoms, not model names — because the failure you're seeing usually has two or three possible causes across very different glasses. Start with the symptom that matches yours:
The guides
- Image is blurry or doubled — XREAL One blurry: diagnose and fix. Covers IPD mismatch, diopter dial setting, myopia vs. hardware fault, and when blur means a defective unit.
- No picture / no signal — Display glasses show no signal. Covers cable order, DisplayPort Alt Mode, device ports that don't carry video, and the adapter matrix.
- Ray-Ban Meta faults — Ray-Ban Meta troubleshooting. Covers one-sided audio, camera failures, pairing loops, and charging-case issues.
Before you return them
Three checks resolve a large share of "defective" returns:
- Try a different cable, then a different port — the two most common no-signal causes. Cables that charge a phone fine can still fail at video. See adapters explained for which combinations carry video.
- Set the diopter dial to 0 and re-check IPD before concluding the optics are broken. Blur from a wrong pupillary-distance setting looks identical to blur from a defective lens. Measure once with our IPD guide.
- Rule out the source device — plug the glasses into a phone or laptop you know outputs video. If they work there, the problem is your source's port, not the glasses. The compatibility library lists known-good pairings per device.
If all three pass and the fault remains, it's likely hardware — collect the evidence (what changed, what you tested) and open the warranty claim with specifics rather than "it doesn't work."
