Affiliate Disclosure

Our commercial status and link practices, stated so plainly it's almost awkward.

Most affiliate disclosures are legal boilerplate written to be skimmed past. Ours is written to be read, because in this market — where a recommendation can move a $599 purchase — you deserve to know exactly what a link does and doesn't do.

Current status: Amazon Associates active

As an Amazon Associate, Smart Glasses Decoded earns from qualifying purchases. As of August 2026, Amazon Associates is our one active program: Amazon links carry our associate tag, and a qualifying purchase through one may earn us a commission at no additional cost to you. All other “check price” buttons still point to manufacturer or retailer pages with clean URLs and no tracking tag, and every outbound commercial link remains marked rel="nofollow sponsored" so search engines treat it as a commercial reference rather than an endorsement.

Worth knowing: this site is new, and so is its commercial side — Amazon Associates went active on 2026-08-25, the same week the site launched — so we can't honestly claim our recommendations predate the program. What we can offer instead: every recommendation carries a “last verified” date and this page records when each program went active, so you can see exactly how the two relate. Any recommendation finalized after a relationship with its brand exists gets re-examined under the rules in our editorial policy.

We have applied to, or plan to apply to, the following programs as the site grows: eBay Partner Network, and direct programs from manufacturers and accessory brands (adapters, docks, cables, power banks, cases) as well as prescription insert providers. Approval status will be reflected on this page the day it changes.

What changes when a program is approved

When an affiliate program is approved, our link builder appends the program's tag to outbound retailer URLs. That is the only mechanical change. Prices shown on this site will continue to be list or commonly-advertised street prices, not affiliate-tracked prices. The disclosure you're reading gets updated with the program names and dates. And every page keeps its “last verified” date so you can see whether a recommendation predates or postdates a commercial relationship with that brand.

The standard language you'll see across the site at that point: “When you buy through links on Smart Glasses Decoded, we may earn an affiliate commission at no additional cost to you.” Commissions do not change our picks — the picks exist first, in writing, with dates attached.

What we will never do

  • Claim an affiliate partnership we don't have, or imply a brand “sponsors” coverage it doesn't.
  • Recommend a worse product because its commission is higher — or bury a better, lower-commission alternative.
  • Stuff pages with product links. If a page's honest answer is “no product solves this,” that's the answer you'll read.
  • Run paid placements or “sponsored reviews” that aren't labeled as such in the first line. See the editorial policy for the full commitments.

Why we talk about accessories so much

It's not link-stuffing — it's how this product category works. A display glasses purchase routinely requires a powered hub (Switch 2 owners), an HDMI adapter (console owners), prescription inserts (about half of all buyers by our estimate), a power bank, and a case that actually fits. Ignoring the ecosystem to keep pages “clean” would make our compatibility and prescription guides useless. When we mention a required accessory, it's because the main product genuinely doesn't work without it.

Questions

If anything about our commercial practices is unclear, ask — and if a page ever appears to violate this disclosure, treat it as a bug and report it.
